About the Author

S.R. Kraniak is the pastor of the Centereach Bible Church, a small church in Long Island, NY (www.cbctruth.com). He has been pastor there since 2006. Before that, he was pastor of a small church in Green Valley, CA; Green Valley Bible Chapel. While in CA, Pastor Scott ran a counseling and youth ministry while running the little chapel in a bi-vocation status. He also authored a newspaper column called, Ask Pastor Scott, a write-in Christian help column.

After moving back to NY where he is originally from, he took over the Centereach Bible Church which is also the church he came to know Christ through way back in 1983 and in 1985 he began attending. Back at the CBC he continued his Christian counseling practice which he had been doing back as far as 1990 on his own. He also had a live call-in radio show known as The Last Call Radio show, another counseling-based call-in show. The show aired on two different local radio stations for about two years.

Pastor Scott also wrote in a local newspaper column on Long Island called, Ask the Clergy. Pastor Scott was also a frequent guest on a local Radio show called (Iron sharpens Iron), plus a part of the Pastors’ Round Table show on that same station. For a while Pastor Scott tried his hands at getting into local government where he chaired the local town youth board. Was a board member of two local civic based boards and was outspoken at many town board meetings in regards to youth oriented issues.

Back at CBC he also ran a youth oriented coffee house and numerous youth programs. Pastor Scott also authored/published (Author House 0987087 a book called Spiritual living in a Sexual World), a book about, and for, Christian men struggling with pornography and sexual addictions.

In regards to that book he did seminar speaking about that issue at local churches, and Christian based venues and also on local radio shows. Currently Pastor Scott is the Track Chaplain of a local race track where he ministers the Gospel there to race car drivers and hot rod enthusiasts through a ministry called Racing with Jesus Ministries (RWJM.COM), see NY TIMES 9/2013 article.

Today in regards to his counseling practice he specializes in depression, anxiety, sexual addictions, teen cutting, and family counseling. He has a Masters Degree in Christian Counseling and a Bachelors Degree in Theology. He is also a member of the New York State Mental Health Counselors Association, and a member of a local ministers association called Suffolk County Evangelical Ministers Fellowship.

Yet with all of that, things have not always been easy or smooth sailing. In 1997 he encountered his first bout with anxiety and depression which was so serious that he almost took his life. Also extreme OCD haunted him and sometime later he would slip again into depression and anxiety. It was not something he ever expected but something that he knew he had to deal with. It was either give up or dig in and fight. Even till this day there are times where those feelings pop up to remind him how trusting in Jesus Christ and having deep intimacy with Him is the only hope in a world with much pain and suffering.

He began seeing his calling in this area and began being an outspoken advocate for discussion on topics of depression and anxiety in the church through seminar speaking on the issues and joining a local Christian mental healthcare providers group. Pastor Scott is 51 years old as of this writing, and married for over 26 years to his best friend Julie; they have three boys- Jacob, Aaron and their youngest Luke which were all home schooled.

Pastor Scott, besides serving Jesus Christ and being a part of the hot rod ministry, also enjoys old Jeeps of which he mentions often in this book. His dream is to be able to travel the country and speak on depression and anxiety in the church today. Some might not like his hard-nosed approach to life, his way of treating depression and anxiety, his Gospel presentation, and doing what’s right, but that’s just how he is. Old school preaching without being afraid to talk about sin and God’s justice as well as His Love.

His Favorite authors are A.W. Tozer, Watchmen Nee,  Dietrich Bonhoffer, David Wilkerson, and Ray Comfort plus many, many more old school preachers. Pastor Scott was raised a Roman Catholic, turned Atheist, dabbled a short time in the occult and even played drums in the Heavy Metal music scene of the 1980’s before coming to know Jesus Christ as Lord. If you would like to have Pastor Scott speak at your church please contact him at pastorscott@optonline.net  or on facebook.
